Communications Coordination, Web Development, and Rebranding

As the Communications Coordinator for Indigenous Psychological Services (IPS), I led a wide-ranging contract that included strategic communications planning, rebranding, and web development. IPS is an Indigenous-led mental health practice rooted in culturally grounded, trauma-informed care. My role was to ensure their digital presence reflected the depth and integrity of their work while making their services more accessible to Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients across Alberta.

Key contributions:

Rebranding and Strategic Communications

  • Guided the organization through a full rebranding process focused on aligning tone, visuals, and messaging with IPS’s core values.

  • Developed a brand voice that emphasized cultural safety, relational healing, and community empowerment.

  • Created a communications strategy tailored to mental health professionals, Indigenous communities, and allied organizations.

  • Designed messaging pillars and style recommendations to ensure consistency across platforms.

Website Audit, Development, and Optimization

  • Conducted a full audit of the existing website, identifying gaps in user experience, content flow, and accessibility.

  • Delivered a comprehensive redevelopment plan including navigation restructuring, clearer service descriptions, and SEO improvements.

  • Rebuilt and restructured pages using Wix, applying visual design best practices with Indigenous cultural elements and land-based imagery.

  • Integrated functional features like therapist bios, contact forms, and clearer pathways for new client inquiries.

Content Strategy and Digital Engagement

  • Drafted and revised web copy to ensure it reflected IPS’s values and was welcoming, inclusive, and trauma-informed.

  • Created a content calendar for both newsletters and social media, tied to awareness days, seasonal events, and culturally significant milestones.

  • Provided guidance on using tools like Meta Business Suite and Mailchimp to streamline communication workflows.

  • Helped coordinate internal content development timelines and asset management to support ongoing outreach.

Impact:
This project significantly improved IPS’s online presence, increased clarity around their services, and laid the groundwork for more strategic and consistent outreach. My work helped position IPS as a trusted, culturally safe provider in Alberta’s mental health landscape while supporting their growth and visibility in digital spaces.
